President Obama visited American Red Cross National Headquarters in Washington DC yesterday. In a speech he gave from the Digital Operations Center he thanked the Red Cross for relief efforts as well as warning the public that effects of the storm are not over. President Obama urged people to monitor the storm, obey warnings from their local officials and most importantly to check on our neighbors and support one another.
He also signed on as a Digital Volunteer at the American Red Cross Digital Operations Center, or digiDOC, made possible by Dell, to tweet for Red Cross. The digiDOC allows the Red Cross to listen to what people are saying, feeling, and needing across the country on social media during times of disaster. Through this amazing technology, Red Cross Digital Volunteers can give support, comfort, and life-saving information to people to when they need it most.
This powerful tool was made possible by the relationship between Dell and the American Red Cross right here in Central Texas.
